Presenting FOSS at the ACS Technology Fair at AUC
By:
Abdel-Karim Mardini

OpenCraft was one of the sponsors of the latest Technology Fair at AUC. The fair was organized by the ACS, and took place on May 6th, 2007 in the Oriental Hall at the Main Campus. This year's fair was titled "Collaborative Technologies @ the New Campus: User-Centric Services, Resources and Tools". The fair explored a number of current computing trends, and the impact of associated technologies on the computing environment.

Abdel-Karim Mardini from OpenCraft gave a presentation about Open Source and its benefits and possible uses in an educational institution. You can download the presentation - in pdf format - attached to this post. We were giving away The OpenCD which contains a collection of Open Source desktop applications for Windows. As prizes for the tombola organized by the ACS, we decided to offer gift certificates from Diwan bookstore instead of the obligatory USB memory stick! :)
