For the second year in a row, OpenCraft welcomed a group of top American graduate students who are spending a month in Egypt to study the Arabic language and to learn from successful businesses in the country and region.
The students are from the Lauder Institute, a dual-degree program at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania, one of the eight renowned Ivy League schools. The program offers an MBA from the internationally top-ranked Wharton Business School and an MA in International Studies from the School of Arts and Sciences.
The program annually sends a group to Cairo for a summer immersion program. One of their main objectives is intensive Arabic language study at the American University in Cairo. They also get to know the local culture and the thriving local business scene.
In order to gain insight into local and regional business, the group conducts a number of corporate visits to successful businesses and entrepreneurs in varying sectors of the Egyptian economy. Last year's visit to OpenCraft was a great success, and led to an eagerly anticipated return this year.
The group was delighted to discuss OpenCraft's impressive record of achievements in the Egyptian IT sector and abroad. In addition to discussing OpenCraft's specific experiences, the company provided an overview of regional business issues and the effect of local culture on the way business is conducted in the Middle East.

love that idea
I was in another country and finishing up my online MBA degree in Marketing when I was reading this blog post. There is no better way to learn about foreign business practices and multicultural nuances than to jump into the pool without knowing how to swim; complete cultural immersion remains one of the only true and tried ways to quickly learn the language and the culture. I applaud all the students in Egypt right now doing just that.
