Working with software and writing software solutions since the early age of 16, Abdelrahman has developed an interest in the ideological views of the free software movement, he joined local and international groups with the aim of spreading the use of Free/Open Source software in Egypt and the Middle East which lead to several contributions to open source projects and advocacy groups including the drupal content management system, arabeyes.org, and moodle.

Abdelrahman holds a BSc in Computer Science from Al-obour Academy for Technology, Cairo. Currently, he is a member of the Egyptian GNU/Linux users group and the free software foundation. Before joining OpenCraft as a software developer he worked as a freelance software developer working mostly on web based projects and held the position of an R&D Specialist with itsyn, an open source consultancy firm. Working full time on delivering solutions based on open source technologies with a special focus on web 2.0, GIS, and web mapping applications.
